“Our museums”, Nolde writes in his autobiography, “become large and crowded and grow quickly. I am no friend of these deadly gatherings due to their crowds.” With its special exhibitions comprising 50 works, the Berlin branch offers visitors the possibility to enjoy world-famous art “with a fresh mind” and “free from any unencumbrance”, as the painter would have wished.
As the Berlin branch, we feel committed to the principle of the Nolde Foundation Seebüll, to maintain and convey Emil Nolde’s comprehensive work in the way the artist would have wished.
